Genk Pull Out Of The Race To Sign Cyriel Dessers

The Belgian-born Nigerian striker is expected to leave Erve Asito this summer following an impressive campaign in the Dutch league

Cyriel Dessers is a transfer target for a couple of clubs in Europe, but he won’t be leaving for Genk after the Belgian side pulled out of the race for his signature.

According to Voetbalnieuws, the Heracles striker is too expensive for Genk, and he won’t be joining The Smurfs this summer.

Dessers club, Heracles, want six million euros for the 25-year-old but Genk are only prepared to offer five million for the newly-invited Super Eagles star.

With Genk pulling out of the race, it opens the door for Cagliari and Club Brugge who are the other clubs interested in Dessers talents.

The former Utrecht striker had a season to remember in the 2019/2020 Eredivisie season that was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Dessers finished as the joint topscorer in the Dutch topflight with 15 goals in 26 games for Heracles. The 25-year-old also scored another three goals in the Dutch Cup.
