It’s two defeat out of two games for Nigerian duo of Chidozie Awaziem and Kenneth Omeruo as Quique Setien’s men smashed Leganes 2-0 at an empty Camp Nou on Tuesday night.
Awaziem, featuring in his 20th La Liga match of the season, could not prevent the Cucumber Growers from falling to their 16th defeat of a disappointing campaign.
Leganes are in real danger of getting dumped into the lower league, losing to the champions just days after suffering a 2-1 home defeat to Real Valladolid at the weekend.
It was the away side that created the early chances of the game with Guerrero having one chance blocked by Lenglet and hitting the post with his second minutes later.
Barca grew into the game though and took the lead through Fati in the 42nd minute when he coolly slotted his shot into the bottom-right corner from the edge of the box. One-nil to Barcelona at the break.
The visitors began the second half impressively by keeping hold of the ball while patiently trying to move out of their half and put some pressure on Barcelona as they try to get back into the game.
But the home side could not be held down for long as Griezmann got the ball in the back of the net only for the goal to be ruled out for offside.
Messi then doubled the lead for the hosts after winning and converting a penalty on the 70th-minute mark.
This straightforward win puts Setien’s team back in complete control at the league summit, re-establishing a five-point advantage over eternal rivals Real Madrid.
Leganes are, however, stuck at the bottom of the league table after Espanyol’s draw earlier and are in desperate need of points if they want to get out of the relegation zone.
