Climbing his way back from the lowly Segunda B to scoring against champions Barcelona, Ramon Azeez can’t be more pleased about how his spell at Granada has gone so far.
The 27-year-old played in La Liga for two consecutive seasons with Almeria before the club was relegated in 2015.
He endured a difficult time the next campaign as he had to play his football in the Segunda B, before making the step up back to the Segunda Division.
He appeared stuck in the Spanish second division, first with Almeria, then Lugo, and eventually Granada.
The move to Granada was sealed on January transfer deadline day last year, and it proved to be inspirational as the former Golden Eaglet star helped the side to gain promotion in the summer.
Avoiding relegation is the primary target of La Rojiblancos this term, and coach Diego Martinez’s men have done an excellent job of it, rising to 9th on the table while establishing a 13 point-gap with the relegation zone.
Super Eagles midfielder Azeez played a vital role in that, having made 17 appearances, scoring twice – including the opening goal in the 2-0 victory over Barcelona back in September.
The midfielder is convinced he has given his best throughout the campaign and deserved to be satisfied with his displays.
“I have experienced a quality leap,” Azeez told the club’s podcast as per Vavel.
“I came from Lugo, and I have been able to get a promotion.
“That is something great, for everyone, it is something very big, and what we are doing this season is something big that hopefully, we can continue as we are doing.”
