Reports: The Premier League Is Back As Iwobi, Ndidi, Others Get Return Date

The Nigerian stars are set to join their colleagues and get back to the pitch as the Premier League season will reportedly return to action on June 17 amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Premier League season will restart on June 17, the BBC reported on Thursday.

Liverpool will have the chance to lift their first league title in 30 years, with the Reds currently leading the standings by 25 points.

Wilfred Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho, and their Leicester City teammates will be keen to maintain their pre-break form and secure a top-four finish at the end of the campaign.

The Foxes currently occupy the third spot on the league table with 53 points from 29 matches, five points above Chelsea in fourth, and a further three points above Man United in fifth.

Odion Ighalo is locked in contractual talks with his parent club, Shanghai Shenhua, in efforts to extend his loan deal beyond the end of May.

If the ex-Granada man’s request his granted, he would hope to help Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side gate-crash the Champions League places, despite the Red Devils’ terrible start to the season.

Bukayo Saka and Arsenal lie in a sorry ninth place on 40 points, but the Londoners still hold on to a slim chance of qualifying for Europe’s premier club competition.

English football will return with a doubleheader featuring Manchester City playing the Gunners and Aston Villa hosting Sheffield United.

Everton have a definite ten-point advantage over the relegation zone. Hence Alex Iwobi and co will be looking up towards making it into the top half of the table.

It’s not looking good for Watford and Isaac Success, though, with the Hornets deep in relegation waters with 27 points gathered from 29 matches.

The Premier League was suspended on March 13 due to the coronavirus pandemic, but teams returned to small group training last week.
