Manchester United Handed A Boost In Ighalo’s Situation

The ex-Nigerian international’s current loan deal with the Red Devils expires at the end of May, but he could still stay at the club till July

Manchester United have been handed a massive boost in their plans to keep Odion Ighalo beyond May after the Nigerian made a personal request to his parent club Shanghai Shenhua.

Ighalo joined United from the Chinese side in a loan deal that was supposed to keep him till the end of the season(May).

But the outbreak of the coronavirus has put football on a break for the last three months, and that has affected Ighalo’s stay at Old Trafford.

The former Super Eagles star who was having a good run of form with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side before the league was suspended, is expected back in Shanghai by the beginning of June.

While Manchester United will love to have him for the remainder of the Premier League which is set to resume next month, Shanghai also want him back for the start of the Chinese Super League season scheduled for June or July.

The Chinese side are not willing to allow Ighalo to stay for an extended period at Old Trafford, although Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed talks are still ongoing.

However, United have been handed a boost as Ighalo has made a personal request to his parent club to allow him to stay until the Red Devils finish their season.

According to Manchester Evening News, Ighalo’s camp is confident that his request will be granted, and he would finish the season with Solskjaer’s side.

Ighalo’s time at Manchester United has been successful so far with the Nigerian scoring four times in eight appearances for the Red Devils.
