It’s a choice between money and fame for Odion Ighalo, and former Super Eagles legend George Finidi has charged the Red Devils striker to chose wisely
Finidi, arguably Nigeria’s greatest ever winger, has advised on-loan Shanghai Shenhua man Ighalo to consider his age and the fact that he is at the twilight of his career before deciding whether or not to stay at United.
Ighalo is caught between signing a permanent deal with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side and remaining in England for another couple of years or returning to China where a huge pay package awaits.
Manchester United are believed to be keen on keeping Ighalo beyond the summer after the former Watford man impressed during a short loan stint.
The 30-year-old forward has netted four goals and notched an assist in just three starts for the Old Trafford giants since joining on January transfer deadline day.
But Shanghai Shenhua want their top striker back ahead of the new football season and have offered Ighalo a new deal that could see him earn more than twice what United are willing to pay.
Ighalo, a boyhood United fan, appears inclined towards continuing his United adventure but Finidi wants him to consider other factors before making that decision.
“If he wants to be in the limelight, he has to stay with the Premier League but if he is going for the money he should go back to China,” Finidi told Brila.
“It all depends on what he wants at this stage of his career, he is thirty now so, he should look at what is before him and make a decision fast.”
