Enyeama Reveals The Secret Behind His Successful International Career

Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama has shared the secrets of his longevity in the national team

Enyeama’s time in the national time was brought to an abrupt end following a bust-up with former Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh.

Still, the former Lille shot-stopper represented Nigeria 101 times before calling it quits in 2015 after the International friendly match against Uganda in Uyo.

The former Akwa United goalkeeper attributed his longevity in the Super Eagles to his family, teammates and others who contributed in one way or the other to help him achieve the feat.

“It is not easy to be the highest cap Nigerian player. You had to fly for over 100 times to achieve that,” Enyeama told Brila FM.

“It is a kind of pride, but the truth be told that it won’t have been possible without my family, my great players.”

“An excellent goalkeeper is the one with good defence; he also has great midfield and excellent striking force in front.”

Enyeama made his Super Eagles debut against Kenya in May 2002, and he was part of the Super Eagles squad at the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Korea/Japan.  He made his first appearance at the World Cup in the last group game against Three Lions of England.

He played in two more world cups for Nigeria including South Africa 2010, where he was outstanding in the Super Eagles game against Argentina.

The former Enyimba goalkeeper also played in four African Nations Cup tournaments, winning the trophy in 2013.
