Osimhen Reveals His Three Favourite Goals Scored For Lille

Nigerian international striker Victor Osimhen has netted 18 times in all competitions for the French side, but he is fond of three in particular.

That second of his two sumptuous goals on his debut at home to Nantes and the two strikes he smashed home in the Champions League against Chelsea and Villarreal are the picks of his goals for Lille, says Nigerian youngster Osimhen.

The 20-year-old forward moved from Sporting Charleroi in the summer for €12 million and quickly made his presence felt by grabbing a brace on his debut against Nantes.

It took only nineteen minutes for Osimhen to put Les Dogues ahead after his right footed shot from the right side of the box settled at the back of the visitors’ net.

Nantes, however, equalized shortly after the break when Mehmet Zeki Çelik put through his own goal.

But Osimhen won the game for the hosts with a quick turn in the box followed by a fierce shot from a difficult angle, ten minutes to the end. It’s a goal that still delights the youngster.

“I have scored several, but I think my second goal on my debut against Nantes was nice,” Osimhen told The Punch when asked which of his 18 strikes is his favourite.

Two of the in-demand striker’s haul came in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League – the first, a smart header in a 1-1 draw against Frank Lampard’s side and the second, a delicious dash-and-finish opener in a 4-1 thrashing at Valencia.

Both goals couldn’t help Lille proceed to the competition’s knock out phase, but they still occupy a special place in Osimhen’s heart.

“And scoring against Chelsea and Valencia in the UEFA Champions League are others I watch over and over again.

“Those are still the best ones, but I think all the goals I have scored are all important ones for me and the club.”
