Ola Aina Applauds NFF For Luring Foreign Based Stars To Eagles

The Super Eagles under Gernot Rohr is an excellent blend of homegrown stars and foreign-born players, which has raised the standard of the team, observed the Torino ace.

Ola Aina has awarded full credits to the Nigeria Football Federation for convincing European-born players to switch allegiance to the Super Eagles.

In recent times, the country’s football governing body has been able to get the likes of Germany-born Leon Balogun, Netherlands-born William Troost-Ekong, and English-born lot of Victor Moses, Alex Iwobi, and Ola Aina.

Since the end of the 2019 African Cup of Nations tournament in Egypt, head coach Gernot Rohr has also extended first-time call-up to Joe Aribo, Viv Solomon-Otabor, and Josh Maja.

Both Kingsley Ehizibue and Belgium-born Cyriel Dessers are still waiting in the wings to make their debut for the three-time African champions.

Team captain Ahmed Musa, and stalwarts such as Kenneth Omeruo, Oghenekaro Etebo, and Wilfred Ndidi form the bedrock of the homegrown legion.

In an Instagram conversation with Baiteze TV, Aina wants the NFF and their scouting team to be applauded for this beautiful mix of homegrown and foreign-born talents in the national team.

“It’s good. Obviously, I rate the people that work for the Nigerian Federation to get the European based players; they are working hard.

“You know our team has quality. You are seeing these players playing in Europe basically, playing in Holland, France, and Germany, so you don’t really have to ask questions of players like that.

“It’s really nice, you can see that there’s a link with obviously the English based guys, but it is also good in our team that we have guys that grew up in Nigeria playing for us, it is a good mix,” Aina concluded.
