Nigerian international Josh Maja admits that he grew up supporting the Gunners and would be a fulfilled man should he ever get the chance to play for the London giants.
The 21-year-old was born in London to Nigerian parents, but he never had the chance to register with the club he supported since he was a boy. Instead, he featured for the likes of Crystal Palace, Fulham, Manchester City, and Sunderland before moving to Ligue 1 just over a year ago.
The young forward has since blossomed in France where he has chalked up a total of eight goals and three assists through 30 appearances for Girondins Bordeaux.
A progressive 2019 also saw him earn an invitation to play for three-time African champions, Nigeria, with head coach Gernot Rohr taking a particular liking to the youngster.
But Maja knows he has to continue to improve to be able to realize another of his long-held dreams – that of playing in the Premier League for Arsenal.
“Obviously, growing up in London, one of my dreams is to play in the Premier League,” Maja said in an interview with beIN Sports.
“Hopefully, in the future, that opportunity will come.
“My team is Arsenal, so hopefully one day I’ll get the opportunity to play for them. If not, then I’ll keep supporting them anyway.”
The North Londoners are not yet linked to Maja, but the youngster may soon be on his way to the Premier League with the likes of Everton and Chelsea reportedly keeping tabs on the player.
