Super Eagles Star Enjoying Loan Spell At His New Club

Nigeria international defender Leon Balogun endured a difficult first half of the season at Brighton and Hove Albion, but he is experiencing a change in fortunes since the turn of the year.

Former Mainz star, Balogun, has admitted to enjoying an excellent start to life in the Championship, following his loan switch to Wigan in January.

He had become surplus to requirement at the Premier League side, seeing no single league action this term despite the Seagull’s struggles in the top-flight.

But since joining the Latics, the 31-year-old has appeared in five games, four of which were from the start, clocking 365 minutes of action.

His arrival has also seen Paul Cook’s men pick up form at a crucial stage of the campaign. Wigan have won their last three matches and have now climbed to 19th on the 24-team table.

Balogun admits he could not have asked for a better start at the DW Stadium.

“So far, it’s been brilliant. I had a good talk with the manager Paul Cook and I don’t have any regrets because it’s an amazing group,” the Super Eagles defender told Brighton’s official website.

“People in and around the club are great, and there’s a real positive chemistry – it’s not what you might have thought given the league position when I joined. The confidence is high, and at the moment, we’re doing well. The results speak for themselves.”
