Manchester United Target Another Super Eagles Star As Ighalo’s Future Remains Uncertain

Odion Ighalo’s loan deal expires at the end of May, but United are making plans to bring in another Nigerian star ahead of next season.

Manchester United are ready to rival La Liga giants, Real Madrid for the services of Lille and Super Eagles hotshot, Victor Osimhen.

According to the Le10sport, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made Osimhen a top priority ahead of next season. The 21-year-old is enjoying a successful debut season with Lille having joined from Royal Charleroi last summer.

Osimhen has been a revelation this campaign with 18 goals in 38 games for Les Dogues this season. Signed for just 14m euros last June, the Nigeria international value has more than doubled following his brilliant performances.

He was previously linked with Liverpool in January, although nothing came out of it. However, a move to the Premier League could once again be on the cards, but this time to Liverpool’s rivals, Manchester United.

But the Red Devils will have to compete with Real Madrid who are also interested in the former Wolfsburg striker.

United who already have Ighalo in their ranks believe Osimhen has the qualities to turn them into title contenders next season.

Lille have always maintained that Osimhen is not for sale, but they could be forced to sell should they receive an offer they can’t refuse.

Meanwhile, Ighalo’s future at Old Trafford is still uncertain with the striker’s loan deal set to run out at the end of May.

The former Watford man joined United from Shanghai Shenhua in January on a loan deal till the end of the season.

Although he has impressed so far with four goals in eight matches, Ighalo may not finish the season with United with the Premier League set to run till June due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

However, according to the Dailymail, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is willing to pay 15m pounds to buy him permanently, while a loan extension could also be an option.
