Next Harry Kane? Tottenham Hotspur join Inter Milan in pursuit of teenage Nigerian striker

George was born in Lagos, Nigeria in 2006 before moving with his parents to France in 2009, starting his professional career with Amiens SC.

2019 UEFA Champions League finalists, Tottenham Hotspur, have joined Inter Milan in the race for 17-year-old Royal Antwerp striker, George Osrzehmen Ilenikhena, as they hunt for the next Harry Kane, Soccernet.ng reports.

Ange Postecoglu’s side are currently fifth in the English Premier League and have lost four consecutive games, conceding thirteen and scoring four.

Son Heung-Min is the top-scorer for the LilyWhites in the league, with 17 goals, and Richarlison is second with 11 goals. Dejan Kulusevski is third, with just six goals, highlighting the team’s need for a clinical finisher who can follow in the footsteps of their former hero, Harry Kane, who has scored 44 goals in 44 games for Bayern Munich this season.

As per Voetbal Krant, Spurs are scouting the market for a striker and have identified 17-year-old George Ilenikhena as a target with Royal Antwerp demanding at least €20 million to part ways with the teenage sensation.

Royal Antwerp, on the other hand, are in dire need of player sales to balance their books to avoid financial decline and could be tempted to part ways with the former Amiens SC striker as he is the player in the Antwerp team with the most offers from clubs abroad.

George has been an exceptional for the Reds. The 17-year-old has become a regular for Royal Antwerp despite being one of the youngest players in the team, having a hand in 15 goals in 48 for the one-time UEFA Cup winners since joining from Amiens SC last summer.

Soccernet.ng earlier reported that newly crowned Serie A Champions, Inter Milan are keen on signing the wunderkind as they look to replace Alexis Sanchez and Marco Arnautovic, but the Italians are unwilling to splash out €20 million on the Nigerian striker.

While Spurs highly rate George, the North Londoners are also eyeing a Spanish-Nigeria striker in Sam Omorodion, should a move for George fail to go through.

Omorodion has scored nine goals in 32 games for Depotivo Alaves. He is on loan from Atletico Madrid.
