Ighalo To Take A Pay Cut Of ₦2.6B For United Stay

The Nigerian is on loan at Manchester United, but he is ready to take a pay cut if that’s what it will take for a permanent deal.

Ighalo took an initial pay cut when he joined Solskjaer’s men on loan from Shanghai Shenhua on the last day of January.

He was on a £240,000-a-week with the Chinese Super League side but had to take a pay cut of just over 40% to fulfil his dream of playing for Manchester United.

The loan move has turned out to be a success with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hinting the club might convert it to a permanent deal.

According to reports, Shanghai would demand about £15m for the services of the former Super Eagles star following his brilliant start to life at Old Trafford.

But United will not be able to pay his £240,000-a-week wages even if they agree to Shanghai’s demands and exercise the option to buy permanently.

Nonetheless, according to the Sun, Ighalo is ready to take another pay cut if it means earning a permanent deal at the club.

The former Watford man currently earns £150,000-a-week on his loan deal, but he is ready to take a hit of £30,000 for an extended stay.

The former Super Eagles star has always expressed his excitement at fulfilling his childhood dream which is playing for Manchester United.

And with him living the dream successfully, Ighalo is ready to take a reduction in his wages for it to continue

The 30-year-old has scored four goals in just eight appearances for Manchester United.
