Disappointed Coach Emmanuel Amuneke Issues El-Makasa Quit Notice

The former head coach of the Tanzania national football team insists he is still with the Egyptian side but that it may not be for much longer.

Former Nigeria international Emmanuel Amuneke has expressed his displeasure at how he has been treated by Misr El Makasa and hints that he may part company with the club next week.

With the Egyptian side struggling against relegation tides in the country’s top-flight, former Barcelona ace Amuneke was hired to help steady the ship.

But just three games into his managerial tenure, the 49-year-old was purportedly promoted to a Directorial position while another coach, Ehab Galal, was appointed to continue with the team.

His agent had revealed to Soccernet Nigeria recently in an exclusive interview that Amuneke had not been sacked, but he admitted there could be a change of role.

Speaking on the issue, Amuneke echoed his representative’s statement and says he will have talks with the club authorities next week.

However, despite there being a chance to earn more money as a Project Director, the unimpressed 2007 FIFA U-17 World Cup-winning coach maintains that he desires to keep growing in his chosen career.

“Well, next week, I will officially let the club know my position about the sports project offer,” the former Super Eagles winger told Brila.net.

“I really will tell them I am not interested, and if they have other plans, then we’ll go our separate ways.

‘The project will take years of my time, and my interest at this time is to continue growing as a Coach.’

‘According to them, they said my name and Abedi Pele’s came up in the discussion for the job, but the Government chose me because I have a history with Egypt.

‘They offered good money, but I can tell you Money isn’t everything,’ the coach concluded.
