Blame The LMC For Failure Of NPFL Players To Earn Super Eagles Call-up – Lobi Stars Goalkeeper, Atsaka

Following the continued exclusion of local players from the Super Eagles, the Nigerian league star has cried for help from the League Management Company (LMC), the football body coordinating the affairs of the league in Nigeria.

Lobi Stars FC Goalkeeper Daniel Atsaka has held the LMC responsible for the snobby way head coach Gernot Rohr keeps treating home-based stars.

For the umpteenth time, Super Eagles manager, Gernot Rohr invited only one player from the local league in his 24-man squad set to face Sierra Leone later this month.

The former Bordeaux manager insists that he pays little attention to home-based stars because there are no platforms to watch the NPFL stars other than the CHAN tournament.

Nigeria reached the final of the 2018 edition but failed to make it past the qualifying rounds of the 2020 edition.

Atsaka believes that the inability of the LMC to broadcast league games for the viewing public denies Rohr the opportunity to see the abundance of talents in the league.

The goalkeeper is praying that a minimum of four players from the home-front is included in the national set-up every time the camp is open.

“I am not happy that domestic players were not invited to the Super Eagles. The NFF should give us a quota of four or five players in the team,” Atsaka told the Guardian.

“People should understand that the inability of the league body to show the NPFL on television for people to see the quality of players in the league is not our fault. The NFF should help us.

“The efforts the domestic players put in week in, week out in the league requires Super Eagles call up.

“Only one domestic goalkeeper, Ezenwa, is in the national team, but the coaches need to invite more domestic players,” he added.
