See What McTominay Said About Odion Ighalo

The Scot has been impressed with Manchester United’s new signing, and he expects him to be successful along with other import, Bruno Fernandes.

United announced the signing of Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon for a reported fee of £46.6m, while Ighalo joined on a loan deal that keeps him at Old Trafford till the end of the season.

Fernandes made his debut for the Red Devils in the 0-0 draw against Wolves last weekend, but Ighalo will have to wait till February 17 before he makes his United bow.

Nevertheless, McTominay has been impressed with what he heard about the duo, saying they are good people. The Scotland international who is currently injured said the two signings are the kind of players needed at the club.

“They’re really, really nice guys,” McTominay told Skyports. “First and foremost they are good people and that’s what we need at this football club. We need good friends, who you can go out to dinner with.

“What they bring onto the football pitch – we’ve seen that. Hopefully, they can bring a lot for us. First impressions are very good,” he added.

McTominay’s words were also echoed by Ighalo’s former teammate Troy Deeney. The two stars enjoyed a fruitful partnership together at Watford.

Speaking to Skysports, Watford praised Ighalo’s humble attitude, and he also expressed his happiness for him.

“He’s a good friend of mine, Odion,” The Watford striker told Skysports. “I’ve got a lot of respect for him as well. When people get to know his back story, they will see a more human side to him. He’s a talented footballer too.

“He’s got his childhood dream to go play for his childhood club, so you have to tip your hat to him.
