English Premier League giants Arsenal are set to revive their interest in Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen due to their problems with scoring goals, Soccernet.ng reports.
Arsenal have lacked a proper attacker for the past two seasons, and that has been a major setback in their push for the Premier League title. With Gabriel Jesus struggling, coach Mikel Arteta has failed to get a new striker, as he has preferred to use Kai Havertz as a false nine.
The Gunners’ attacking shortcomings were brought to the fore again on Saturday when they had to settle for a 2-2 draw against Aston Villa at the Emirates. Arsenal dominated the play and had 18 goal attempts, but they could only convert two of their shots.
After the result, speculations have emerged that Arsenal want to rekindle their interest in Super Eagles striker Osimhen. However, this is not the first time the Gunners would be linked to Osimhen.
The former Lille man was heavily linked with a transfer to North London last summer, but the talks failed to materialise as Arsenal decided to invest in other areas of the pitch.
Osimhen is having a good season with Turkish champions Galatasaray, on a season-long loan from Napoli. The Nigerian striker has registered 14 goals and six assists in 18 games across all competitions as they sit at the summit of the Super Lig.
Osimhen has already been linked to other clubs in Europe, like Chelsea and Manchester United, but he has repeatedly pledged his loyalty to Galatasaray till the end of the season. Except Arsenal put a big offer on the table, Osimhen would likely stay in until the end of the season.
