Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Gives An Update Odion Ighalo’s Situation Ahead Of Chelsea Trip

The former Super Eagles star has been training away from United’s Carrington training base and was not part of the squad that travelled to Spain due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus in China.

But despite missing out from the trip to Spain, Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed Odion Ighalo will be included in the squad that travels to London to take on Chelsea on Monday.

The former Cardiff manager confirmed Ighalo would be integrated into the squad finally this weekend. The former Watford man has been training at a gym centre in Manchester because the Red Devils are taking precaution against the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus.

The virus originated from China although not in Shanghai where Ighalo was plying his trade before signing for Manchester United. Nevertheless, the club decided to place Ighalo on a two-week precautionary period to minimise the risk.

With two weeks period over, Solskjaer confirmed he will join the team’s training this weekend and should be in the squad to face Chelsea.

“He’ll be involved with us, and he’ll travel down with us and, obviously, now he’s out of that two-week period of precaution, and it’s a precaution we’ve made, Solskjaer told United’s website.

While he is expected to be part of the squad that face Chelsea, Solskjaer revealed he is not sure if he will feature in the game.

“I never said he was going to be ready to play on Monday.” He’ll travel with us and let’s see if he’s involved or not.

“He’s done his [training programme], and it was always going to be a case of him having to integrate into the group anyway after having been out in China.

“He needs to get used to the players and the team and up to speed as quick as he can,” the Norwegian added.
