Ianis Hagi, son of Romanian football legend Gheorghe Hagi, has been left stunned by the quality of Rangers teammate, Joe Aribo, following his display against Braga on Thursday night.
Hagi was the hero of the night, scoring a brace to help the Light Blues claim a 3-2 victory in a Europa League tie after overturning a two-goal deficit.
Aribo, though, was the inspiration behind the incredible win, with Steven Gerrard’s men looking listless until the former Charlton Athletic man was introduced in the second half.
Sent in to play as a left fullback, Aribo eventually featured in midfield and further upfront as the Gers looked to tear down their Portuguese foes.
The manager’s tactical switch paid off, though, as Aribo scored a brilliant, solo goal to equalize on the night after Hagi had halved the deficit.
In the 74th minute, the super sub picked the ball up on the left flank, cut inside, and skipped past a host of Braga players before curling a low finish into the net.
The goal left everyone at the Ibrox gasping for air, including Romanian attacker, Hagi.
“Joe is an amazing dude man. Playing three positions in less than 45 minutes, it’s crazy, it’s madness, but, you know, he was just out there and giving that positive stuff every single moment he had the ball,” Hagi told Rangers TV.
“He is sacrificing for the team because playing as a left-back, I think it was his first time. It’s amazing and scoring that goal, that dude is special.”
Aribo has featured 34 times in all competitions for Rangers, scoring five goals.
