The former Nigeria international joined Manchester United from Shanghai Shenhua, and he made his debut for the club in the win over Chelsea on Monday night although as a substitute.
Odion Ighalo came on in the closing stages of the win over Chelsea to become the first Nigerian to play for Manchester United.
United next face Club Brugge in the last 32 of the Europa League, and that could see Ighalo make his first start for the club.
Speaking in his press conference ahead of the game, Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, hinted that he would make changes to his squad, and Ighalo is one of the players that could come in.
The former Super Eagles star travelled with the rest of United’s squad to Belgium, and he is set for his first appearance in European club competitions.
“Well I’m not going to tell the team,” Ole told United website. “But we’re going to have to rotate with all the games we’ve got coming up, and he’s one of them that could start. We’ve not 100 per cent decided yet.”
If he is given the nod to lead United’s attack, Ighalo is likely to come up against Emmanuel Dennis who is in Club Brugge’s squad.
