The UEFA Champions League resumed last night with the round of 16 kicking off with two massive clashes.
Liverpool returned to the scene where they won their sixth European Cup as they take on Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano.
However, they came up short this time around as a Saul Niguez close-range finish inside four minutes gives Atletico the early advantage.
Liverpool had most of the possession in the Spanish capital, but it all counted for nothing as Klopp’s men failed to manage a shot on target.
In the night’s other game, Borussia Dortmund got the better of Paris Saint Germain thanks to a brace from Erling Haaland.
The 19-year-old who joined Dortmund from Salzburg in January put the home side ahead in the 69th minute before Neymar got PSG back on level terms six minutes later.
However, Haaland restored Dortmund’s lead just two minutes later, and that proved to be the winner. The return leg of the two matches will see Atletico Madrid travel to Anfield in three weeks, while Dortmund take on PSG in France.
