2013 AFCON Winner Delighted To Join Scottish Side Livingston

Four-time Scottish Premiership champion Efe Ambrose is pleased to have finally secured a move to the Scottish side after putting pen to paper on an eighteen-month deal.

The former Celtic defender has completed his switch to Livingston after a spell without a club.

The defender, who starred as Nigeria claimed her third triumph at the 2013 African Cup of Nations, has been playing local football in Nigeria after leaving Derby County in the summer.

The 31-year-old had previously played for Israeli club Ashdod and Scottish club Hibernian. But the most successful period of Ambrose’s career was spent in Scotland, where he won six titles with Celtic, and the former Kaduna United ace is excited to return to the land of the Scots.

“I watched the Scottish league a lot back in Africa, and I told Marvin I wanted to move back to Scotland and could he help out. He spoke to the coaches and said they were interested, ” Ambrose said in quotes carried by SportsMole.

“I never thought they would be interested because I hadn’t played for six months. I have been training morning and evening back at home with my local team, and they trusted me with that. I am not coming in for a pre-season. I am ready to go.

“Unfortunately, I could not come in January because of paperwork. My agent tried to do everything possible, but they couldn’t get it done, and I thought I had missed out when they signed another centre-back.

“I thought it was another door shut, and I was frustrated. I kept calling Marvin, and he told me not to worry, and I kept believing and praying. Last week everything turned around.

“Then Livingston came in. I have watched them play and have seen the ambition of the club,” he concluded.

Ambrose is in line to make his debut against former employers Hibernian on Saturday.
