World Cup Qualifiers: Super Eagles Goalkeeping Coach Insists Nigeria Won’t Underrate Group Rivals

Cape Verde, Liberia and the Central African Republic will be shown due respect when the race for Qatar 2022 begins, according to Super Eagles goalkeeper coach Alloy Agu.

The Ex-Nigeria international and one-time Super Eagles safe hands assured fans that the Gernot Rohr-led side will do everything to ensure Super Eagles qualify for the next World Cup in Qatar.

Soccernet.ng reported that the three-time African champions have been placed in an easy-looking Group C alongside the trio of the Blue Sharks, the Wild Beasts, and the Lone Stars for the 2022 World Cup Qualifying series.

Neither of these teams has ever appeared at the FIFA World Cup, but Nigeria have participated at the Mundial six times, making her debut 26 years ago at the USA ’94.

Despite the Super Eagles pedigree, Agu is aware of the threat their foes present.

“There is nobody you can count out, you just have to take each game as it comes, and you make sure that you give your best, and that’s precisely what we are going to do,” Nigeria’s starting goalkeeper at the 1990 African Nations Cup told Brila.net.

“Because the moment you start underrating a team or ruling out a country, that might lead to something else. We don’t want to do that and we will never go that way.”

The Super Eagles will begin their World Cup qualifying campaign with a home clash against Liberia in November.
