Brendan Rodgers has praised Kelechi Iheanacho after he came off the bench to net the equalizer that saved the Foxes’ blushes against the Villans at the King Power Stadium on Wednesday night
Kelechi Iheanacho was introduced into the game in the 69th minute as a Leicester City side – missing the services of injured Wilfred Ndidi – faced imminent defeat after trailing to a 28th minute Frederic Guilbert goal.
But the Super Eagles striker proved his worth yet again, netting the equalizer five minutes after entering the fray. Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers was left impressed with the former Manchester City forward who has now scored six times in eight appearances for the Foxes this season.
The former Liverpool gaffer suggested that when he is in need of goals, Kelechi Iheanacho is the man to call.
“Kelechi comes in and I know what I get from him. He’s so strong, so powerful and he gives us great opportunities to build the game and link the game,” Brendan told the club’s official website.
“You see his goal, he’s got great confidence now, whether he starts or comes into the game.”
Iheanacho’s goal against Aston Villa was the second time he had struck against the Villans this season, having scored in the 4-1 win at Villa Park last month.
