He scored a brace and supplied an assist in the Turkish side’s 6-0 victory over Kasimpasa, but forgotten Super Eagle Anthony Nwakaeme has chosen instead to compliment his teammates for doing a great job on a pleasant afternoon.
Nwakaeme heaped a ton of praise on Trabzonspor players for maintaining their title challenge with a dominating win over Kasimpasa at the Medical Park Stadyumu on Sunday.
The 30-year-old forward has been enjoying an excellent campaign that has seen him notched seven goals and five assists in 18 games as a left-sided winger. His double at the weekend made it the third consecutive competitive match that Nwakaeme has found the back of the net.
The Lagos-born powerhouse scored in the 6-2 defeat of Kayserispor in the last match of 2019 before smashing in another in the 2-0 Cup win over Denizlispor in the first game of the new year.
Despite his impressive goalscoring return, though, Anthony Nwakaeme believes more encomiums should be poured on the duo of attacking midfielder Jose Sosa and striker Alexander Sorloth. Sorloth grabbed a hattrick while Sosa got the opener against Kasimpasa.
“I want to congratulate my team, we were great. Congratulations to my teammates. We are great from the goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, to the strikers.” said the former Hapoel Be’er Sheva star in quotes carried by Sporx.
“We have Sosa, we have a goalscorer like Sörloth. We do our best, we want to continue like this.”
Trabzonspor lie in third place on the Turkish Super Lig, five points behind leaders Sivasspor. The Black Sea Storm will have a chance to reduce the gap when they face Yeni Malatyaspor next Monday.
