Ndidi’s Absence Behind Leicester City’s Loss – Former Nigerian Star Reveals

Atlanta Olympic gold medalist Joseph Dosu believes Wilfred Ndidi’s absence in Leicester City’s 2-1 loss against Southampton in Saturday’s Premier League clash shows his importance in the team.

Ndidi recently had a successful surgery on an injury he copped in training, and he’s expected to be out for four weeks

Dennis Praet opened his Leicester account in the first half, but this was quickly cancelled by a Stuart Armstrong strike for the Saints. Danny Ings scored the lone goal of the second period as Saints stunned their hosts.

Reacting to Leicester City’s shock defeat to a team they defeated 9-0 seventy-eight days ago, Dosu told Soccernet.ng that Ndidi would have made a huge difference if he was not injured. However, he admitted that Southampton deserved their victory because they wanted it more.

“There is no doubt that Wilfred Ndidi was greatly missed in the heart of the midfield by Leicester City against Southampton,” Dosu told Soccernet.ng.

“The Foxes midfield gave the Southampton players much room to operate without making any compact tackles. They missed Ndidi’s timely tackles and ability to run with the ball to set up his teammates into goal-scoring positions.

“Having said that, I am not taking anything away from Southampton as they played like a wounded lion and deservedly got the maximum point.”

The Nigerian international scored twice and assisted one other goal in 20 Premier League appearances before his injury.
