Bordeaux manager, Paulo Sousa says he can’t wait to have Super Eagles winger, Samuel Kalu back from injury.
Sousa made this statement in a brief chat with Al Jazera, where he said he eagerly await Kalu’s return to the team.
“I hope to recover the important players like Samuel Kalu, that he arrives as quickly as possible,” he said.
Kalu’s season has been hampered by injury which has reduced his game time with Bordeaux.
The Nigerian international, who joined Bordeaux in the summer of 2018 from Gent for €8.5million, has made 16 league appearances, scoring one goal. In all competitions, he has five goals in 50 games.
His last game for Les Girondins was on December 12, 2019, where he played all 90 minutes in the team’s 1-0 loss against Stade Rennais in the Ligue 1.
Kalu was part of the Super Eagles squad that clinched bronze at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt. He was also among the goal scorers as Nigeria defeated the Squirrels of Benin in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on November 13, 2019.
