Victor Osimhen’s Injury: Lille Coach Gives Update On Super Eagles Striker’s Hospital Rush

The Super Eagles striker experienced some discomfort and was rushed to the hospital shortly after scoring the opening goal against Monaco on Tuesday night in the Round of 16 of the French League Cup.

But his coach has assured fans that there is no cause for alarm. Lille’s Christophe Galtier moved to squash all rumours that top striker Victor Osimhen suffered a serious injury that necessitated his substitution and subsequent transport to the hospital.

Speaking to Canal Plus, as quoted by GetFootballNewsFrance at half-time of the League Cup tie versus Monaco, Galtier revealed: “He’s (Osimhen’s) fine. It (The injury) is nothing very serious.”

The Nigeria international had smashed home the visitor’s opener – his 12th strike in 21 games across all competitions for Lille – at the Stade Louis II after the 19th-minute mark but went down in pain shortly afterwards.

The 20-year-old, who complained of chest pains and dizziness, was immediately taken off the pitch and attended to by the medic after which he was rushed to the hospital. Osimhen expectedly spent the night under observation at the hospital.

Lille went on to progress to the next phase of the competition as two other goals from Loic Remy, Osimhen’s replacement, handed Les Dogues a dominant 3-0 win.
