Nigeria’s Two Finest Talents Clash In Holland

Wing wizard Chidera Ejuke and goalscoring machine Cyriel Dessers will square up against each other when Heerenveen host Heracles Almelo in the Eredivisie on Saturday.

It’s all going down at the Abe Lenstra Stadion where seventh-placed Heerenveen hunt for the maximum points against ninth-placed Heracles with all eyes set to be on the Nigerian duo of Chidera Ejuke and Cyriel Dessers.

The two forwards have not only been Nigeria’s best talents in the Dutch top flight, but they have both also been the finest players of their respective clubs.

25-year-old Dessers is one of the top marksmen in the Netherlands with his 11 goals bettered by no other. The Belgian-Nigerian has also provided 5 assists to make him the highest rated player in the Heracles team.

Although Chidera Ejuke has recorded six goals and one assist in the current campaign, there is more to the 21-year-old’s game than just scoring goals.

The former Valerenga forward, once likened to Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta, is an exciting dribbler who is adept at opening up spaces for teammates. He is also the player with the highest rating in the Heerenveen squad.

Heerenveen are the big favourites to claim victory with their strong record at home – just one loss so far – hard to ignore.

Dessers and Heracles would, however, be out for revenge after being humiliated in their own backyard by Heerenveen back in August.

When the sides met in Almelo earlier in the season Heerenveen thrashed Heracles 4-0.

With just two points and two spots separating these two sides in the Eredivisie table and blessed with two of the league’s finest stars, fireworks are expected in an encounter that is the pairs’ last league game before the winter break.
