Super Eagles forward, Josh Maja failed to find the back of the net as Bordeaux lost 3-1 to Marseille in Sunday’s Ligue 1 game at the Orange Velodrome.
Maja, who has been in a goal-scoring form in the last two games he has played for Les Girondins, was marked out by Marseille defensive duo of Duje Caleta-Car and Alvaro Gonzalez.
Bordeaux’s Yacine Adli put the visitor ahead with a low drive finish in the 31st minute to silence the vociferous home supporters.
The Nigerian international only clear chance came in the 64th minute but he failed to direct his header past Marseille goalkeeper, Steve Mandanda that could have extended the team’s lead.
However, Andre Villas-Boas’ team rallied at the Velodrome Stadium with goals from Jordan Amavi and Morgan Sanson. Marseille’s last goal in stoppage time was given to Bordeaux’s Aurelien Tchouameni, who deflected a goal-bound shot from in-form Serb midfielder Nemanja Radonjic.
Bordeaux will host Strasbourg in this Sunday’s Ligue 1 clash at the Matmut Atlantique Stadium.
