Everton Boss Charges Alex Iwobi, Teammates To Repeat Chelsea Feat Against Man Utd

The Toffees have managed just two victories in almost 30 years over the Red Devils at Old Trafford, but their new caretaker manager Duncan Ferguson insists Alex Iwobi and the rest of his men will be aiming to beat Ole Gunner Solskjaer’s side.

Ferguson started his interim reign as Everton manager with a hugely impressive 3-1 win against Chelsea. But in Manchester United, Iwobi and his mates face a side full of confidence after beating Tottenham, Manchester City and AZ Alkmaar in the space of eight days.

Added to that is the fact that United are unbeaten in their last five matches at home to Everton and are favourites against an Everton side that have lost 6 of their last 7 away league matches.

However, there is a different look about this Everton side under Ferguson than there was under Silva just over a week ago.

And the 47-year-old Ferguson insists his players are motivated to recreate the same performance that earned them all the three points against Chelsea last weekend.

“It has been great [this week], those points were so important for us,” Ferguson told Everton’s official website.

“Everyone is happier when you get wins, the boys seem good, they have trained well and are motivated to go again.

“We are confident because we are off the back of beating Chelsea.

“But Manchester United are on a great run, they’ve lost only one home game all season, and we’ve won once in the past 27 years there.

“It is going to be difficult for us but it’s one we will be up for.

“United are on the up at the moment and they are a very good team. It will be a big ask but I am sure we can give a good account of ourselves.

“I’d be on the roof if we get a win there. But we can do it and that’s what we’ll try to do.”

Alex Iwobi, 23, played the full 90 minutes in that inspiring win over Chelsea and will hope he did enough to earn a start at Old Trafford.
