Daniel Akpeyi returned to the home side’s starting eleven and did his bits as Kaizer Chiefs smashed Orlando Pirates 3-2 in the Soweto Derby on Saturday.
The Nigeria international goalkeeper conceded two goals in the encounter but a late penalty converted by man of the match Cardoso handed Amakhosi their first derby victory in four years over eternal rivals Pirates and saw Chiefs extend their lead at the top of the Premier Soccer League.

Two quick fire goals before the half hour mark – courtesy of a Nyauza own goal and a Castro strike – handed Kaizer Chiefs a fantastic 2-0 lead but the visitors fought back in stunning fashion to draw level.
First Pule gave Pirates a lifeline scoring just before the break before Gabadinho Mhango smashed in a spectacular equalizer on the hour mark.

However, an in-form Amakhosi could just not be denied the win as Cardoso struck from the penalty spot to seal a famous win for the league leaders.
