Nigerians Join In As Savage Reactions Trail Jose Mourinho’s Appointment As Tottenham Manager

The football world was left stunned on Wednesday morning when Spurs announced the appointment of the former Chelsea manager to take over from the departed Mauricio Pochettino and the reactions to the news have been just as bewildering.

Tottenham Hotspurs sacked Argentine manager Pochettino on Tuesday evening after five-and-a-half years in charge of the North Londoners with the ‘Special One’ named as his successor less than 24 hours later.

Mourinho’s appointment however is a strange one considering that Spurs are seen as a pro-football, attacking side while the former Real Madrid tactician is often viewed as a ultraconservative, defensive coach.

The Portuguese coach also famously remarked in 2015 that his affection for Chelsea fans would never make him manage Tottenham, a city rival with the Blues, but apparently his feelings towards Stamford Bridge are no longer as strong as it used to be.

Nigeria football fans, Arsenal fans and indeed fans from all over the world have received the Mourinho to Spurs news with mixed feelings and the savage reactions have still not stopped streaming in.
