Super Eagles forward and Lille striker Victor Osimhen has scooped the French Ligue 1 Player of the Month for September 2019, his first since joining the league in the summer.
The former Sporting Charleroi star claimed the award ahead of Algeria’s Islam Slimani and France’s Nicolas Pallois. The Lille targetman won 45% of the vote to place first ahead of Monaco’s Islam Slimani (37%) and Nantes’ Nicolas Pallois (18%).

The 20-year-old former U17 world champion had a spectacular month where he was involved in four goals, banging in 2 goals and supplying another 2 assists as Lille climbed to second on the League 1 table for a while.
Osimhen opened his goal account for the month against SCO Angers before netting another when Les Dogues faced Strasbourg. The Nigerian’s assists came in matches against Rennes and Strasbourg.
With 7 goals in 9 appearances in the Ligue 1, Osimhen is the fourth highest goalscorer in the top five European Leagues, behind Bayern Munich’s Lewandowski (11 goals), Manchester City’s Aguero and Chelsea’s Abraham (both with 8 goals).
Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga won the award in August.
