Super Eagles Star On Target Again In Ligue 1, Named Man Of The Match

The Ligue 1 is proving to be a good hunting ground for Nigerian forwards this season as Nantes moved up to second in the French top division after they beat Nice courtesy a Moses Simon goal.

It was the Nigerian international second goal of the season in the French topflight after scoring his first in Les Canaris win over Amiens earlier this season.

His goal last night took Nantes to the second position, two points behind leaders, Paris Saint Germain. Christian Gourcuff’s side were heading towards a home draw until Simon swept home in the 86th minute to send the Nantes faithfuls wild.

His performance in the match earned him the man of the match award with Ligue 1 official website calling him unplayable.

Speaking after the match, Nantes manager, Christian Gourcuff was delighted with Simon’s goal. “We created the opportunities, the goal is beautiful,” he said

Meanwhile, Samuel Kalu and Josh Maja were missing in Bordeaux 3-1 win at Toulouse. Kalu who has been a regular for Les Girondins this season was not in the squad last night, while Jos Maja was on the bench for the whole 90 minutes.
