The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have denied reports circulating in the media that Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr plans to dump the team after the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
Last week some media outlets reported that the German tactician has set out his mind to dump the team after failing to get the backing of the people at the glasshouse.
However, a source in the NFF, who doesn’t want his name mentioned, told Soccernet.ng that Rohr has a good relationship with NFF and has never discussed plans to dump Nigeria.
The source also revealed that the German tactician remains committed to his contract and eager to qualify the Super Eagles to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations and beyond.
“I just want to believe that some of these stories about Gernot Rohr leaving the Super Eagles job after 2021 AFCON are mere lies,” the source told Soccernet.ng.
“The man is committed with the contract he signed with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and he’s eager to extend his stay even after 2021. I see no reason why we should be making things difficult for ourselves when we are aware that he’s under contract.
“Presently, his focus is on the Brazil game on Sunday and AFCON qualifier against Benin. This is just a distraction to weigh down the morale of the players and the technical crew. Rohr has no plan to dump the Super Eagles, my brother.”
