Reports: Nigeria-born Attacker Close To Sealing Permanent Move Away From Liverpool

After a successful loan spell in Scotland so far, helping Rangers overtake Celtic at the top of the league table, Nigeria born winger Sheyi Ojo is on the verge of making his move away from Liverpool permanent.

The on-loan Liverpool youngster is one of the most creative players in coach Steven Gerrard’s table-toppers with his five goals and four assists in just 17 appearances crucial to catapulting  Rangers to seven victories in eight league games.

The Ibrox giants have been quite impressed and have reportedly opened discussions with a view to signing Sheyi Ojo from Liverpool on a permanent deal.

The winger, 22, has been a mainstay of Steven Gerrard’s starting XI since joining from Anfield in the summer on a season-long loan as the Liverpool legend is a big admirer of the left-footed attacker and is convinced he will be a more consistent matchwinner when he has accumulated more senior experience.

Although, Ojo has featured for England at the youth level, he is still eligible to play for the Super Eagles.

The flying winger has not hidden his desire to play for Nigeria, especially after seeing Rangers’ teammate Joe Aribo make a goalscoring debut for the former African champions and then smashed in a beauty against Brazil last weekend.

“I’ve made it known that I am willing to switch allegiance to Nigeria. I’ll be glad if I am called up because just like Joe Aribo I also want to play for #Nigeria at senior level,” he wrote on Twitter.

Sheyi Ojo only signed a new long term contract with Liverpool last year.

But the youngster would be open to a permanent Rangers move as a chance to play for the Reds could currently be hampered with the form of Sadio Mane, Mo Salah, and Roberto Firmino.
