After watching his side played out a 1-1 draw against Arsenal at Old Trafford on Monday night, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has blamed the weather for United’s contrasting performances but still drew positives from the encounter.
United were on course for their third home win of the season after Scott Mctominay put them ahead in the first half, but a misplaced pass from Axel Tuanzebe allowed Pierre Emerick Aubameyang to finish past David De Gea and earn a point for the Gunners.
However, despite the dropped points, Solskjaer claimed there were positives from the match, but said the weather did not help United’s cause.
Speaking to Bein Sports after the match, Solskjaer said: “You know you only get one point, but I felt the performance was positive, a bit deflated maybe cos you felt we could or should have had three points.”
The manner we went about things I think was positive. When pressed on the reasons for the two side’s chaotic performances, the former Molde manager said: “Conditions sometimes, you know they dictate the game and today was wet.”
“You could see once Andreas slipped and they were one on one with the keeper in the first half, so conditions did not help, but sometimes it was the quality at times, composure, some decision making, so there’s a lot of reason a game of football becomes like this, Solskjaer added.
