Mousset’s Goal Ends Arsenal’s Five-game Unbeaten Run In The Premier League

A Lys Mousset’s first-half goal was enough to end the Gunner’s five-game unbeaten run in the league as Sheffield United defeated Arsenal 1-0 in Monday’s Premier League game at the Bramall Lane.

Despite Arsenal’s early possession and swift passes in the few minutes of the encounter, the team failed to utilize some of the goal-scoring that came their way.

Nicolas Pepe could have given the Gunners the lead in the 21st minute when Sead Kolasinac sent him a through pass but he failed to connect perfectly with the ball.

Arsenal’s profligacy in front of goal was later punished when Lys Mousset put the home team ahead in the 30th minute with a simple tap in.

The goal fired Sheffield United up as they piled more pressure on the Arsenal defence in search of the second goal only to be denied by the Gunners goalkeeper, Bernd Leno.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang almost leveled parity for the visitors in the 34th minute as he found his way straight into the 18-yard box of Sheffield United but his shot was blocked by the Sheffield wall.

At the resumption of the second half, the Gunners charged more on the Sheffield United defence, desperately looking for the equalizer but failed to hit the back of the net.

Substitute, Dani Ceballos also came close to scoring for Arsenal in the 59th minute as his shot was saved by Sheffield United goalkeeper, Dean Henderson.

A few minutes later, Pepe’s free-kick was parried away by Henderson, who appeared to stand against the Gunner’s chance of scoring a goal.

All attempts by Arsenal to pick at least a point proved abortive as Sheffield United snatched a valuable three points at home to move 9th on the league table.
