James Milner last gasp penalty ensured Liverpool took all the three points against Ndidi’s Leicester City in the Premier League encounter between the two sides at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
The Reds started the match having much of the ball but failed to create any real chance against an organised Leicester side.
The Foxes who put five past Newcastle last weekend took a different approach against their more superior opponents as they sat back hoping to hit the Reds on the break.
It was an approach that appeared to work as they restricted every Liverpool attack while they were also dangerous on the break also.
However, their resistance will eventually be broken five minutes before half-time as Sadio Mane finished past Kasper Schmeichel after he was set up by a perfect James Milner pass.
Mane’s 50th league goal for Liverpool ensured Jurgen Klopp’s side went into the break with the lead. The second half started with Liverpool going in search for the second goal and they almost got it immediately through Sadio Mane, but the Senegalese shot could only find the side netting.
Minutes later, Andy Robertson was presented with a golden chance to extend the lead after he was set through on goal by Mo Salah, but the Scotland captain could only fire straight at Schmeichel.
However, against the run of play and with just ten minutes remaining, Leicester made Liverpool pay for those misses as they got back on level terms through a James Maddison shot that squirmed past Adrian.
But there will still be more drama as Liverpool snatched the lead again in the fourth minute of injury time through James Milner’s penalty after Sadio Mane was tripped in the box.
