Ahead of the team’s international friendly game with Brazil, Super Eagles midfielder, Ramon Azeez has expressed delight to have been recalled to the team by Gernot Rohr after four years of absence.
Ramon represented Nigeria at the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup, FIFA U-20 World Cup and 2014 FIFA World Cup, where Nigeria crashed out in the round of 16 after losing 2-0 to France but has not represented the country since then.
However, last weekend, Ramon netted a goal in Granada’s 2-0 against Barcelona in La Liga, which perhaps must have caught the attention of the Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr.
He told BBCSports in an interview that he’s honoured to be recognized by Rohr after he was listed in the 23-man squad that will face Brazil in an international friendly game against Brazil on October 13 in Singapore.
“The manager [Diego Martínez] has shown great faith and belief in me,” Azeez said. “I also understand La Liga better now than before so everything leads to this.
“I think the support of my teammates, everyone at the club and a new mentality has helped. It is always an honour to play for my country and to be recognised by coach [Gernot] Rohr.”
