Barcelona grabbed their first away three points in the Spanish League after the team defeated Getafe at the Estadio Coliseum Alfonso Pérez on Saturday.
Playing without injured Lionel Messi, Barcelona took the game to Getafe as Luis Suarez had the chance to net the first goal in the 10th minute but failed to score.
Getafe’s Angel Rodriguez could have opened the scoring in the 20th minute but his low drive shot went wide the goal post.
The Catalans eventually took the lead late in the first half as Suarez’s strike gave the visiting team the much needed goal before the break.
At the resumption of the second half, Barcelona wasted no time to announce their intent of grabbing the maximium points asJunior Firpo extended their lead in the 49th minute with a sublime finish.
The visitng team could have added a third but Suarez failed to connect with the ball perfectly in the 18-yard box.
Getafe had the chance to reduce the scoreline in the 73rd minute, however, Mauro Arambarri missed with an attempt on goal.
All efforts for Getafe to pull a goal back proved abortive as Barcelona snatched their first three points away from the Camp Nou Stadium.
