Real Madrid, Arsenal Star, De Gea Congratulates Rafael Nadal On US Open Win

Congratulatory messages have been pouring in on Rafael Nadal after he won his fourth US Open title and 19th grand slam by beating Russias’s Danil Medvedev in a five-set epic battle at the Arthur Ashe stadium.

The Spaniard appeared to be cruising to a straight-sets victory after he took the first two sets 7-5, 6-3. But Medvedev won’t go down without a fight, and he rallied back to take the third and fourth set, 7-5, 6-4.

However, Nadal will not be denied a fourth title at the Flushing Meadows as he took the fifth set 6-4 to win his 19th grand slam trophy and move just one shy of the all-time record of 20 held by Swiss legend, Roger Federer.

Following his victory, stars took to social media to congratulate the 33-year-old. Football stars are not left out, and among them is, Manchester United goalkeeper, David De Gea, Arsenal and Spain midfielder, Dani Ceballos.

De Gea took to his twitter page to congratulate the Mallorca native. The Spain goalkeeper said: his guy is from another planet!

Dani Ceballos meanwhile, just tweeted a picture of Nadal with the caption 19, which is in reference to the number of grand slam titles Nadal have.

Real Madrid are also some of the personalities in the football world to congratulate Nadal. Nadal is an honourary board member of Los Blancos and has been seen at the Santiago Bernabeu watching Madrid games.
