Lionel Messi Reveals The Only Reason He Could Leave Barcelona

Following Bartomeu’s quotes that Lionel Messi could leave Barcelona for free next season, the Argentine has come out to say he’s not thinking of leaving the Camp Nou.

Messi who arrived at Barcelona aged 13, has spent all his professional career at the Catalonia club and he’s not ready to end his time yet, but did sound a warning he could leave if the club is no longer winning trophies.

When asked if there was any clause that allows him to leave for free next season, Messi neither confirmed nor denied it, but revealed he wants to stay at the club for a very long time as long as the team keep on winning.

‘I can’t really confirm anything because contracts have confidentiality clauses in them and if I talk I will be breaking that clause.

‘What I can say is that I want to be at Barcelona for as long as possible and play my whole career here because this is my home.

‘I don’t want to have a long contract and just stay here because of the contract. I want to stay because I see that there is a winning project at the club. I want to carry on winning things. The clause and the money means nothing to me. I am motivated by other things and the most important thing is to have a winning project.’

He added: ‘Obviously I want to win. And I want to win at this club. It is my home. I have no intention of going anywhere but I want to keep winning and competing

Since he made his debut in 2004, Messi has enjoyed a trophy-laden period, winning four champions league, 10 La Liga titles and 6 Copa Del Rey titles.
