Former Super Eagles Star Joins Belgian Second Division Side

Former Nigeria striker Emmanuel Emenike has signed for Belgian second division side KVC Westerlo as he attempts to kick start his career again.

The former Fernabache striker since he was released by Greek side Olympiacos in 2018. But having now passed a trial with De Kuip, he has signed a deal with them.

He took to his Instagram page to announce his move to the new club with the caption: “Thank you Westerlo for making me feel at home and welcome,” “Let’s get some wins and go for the title. Project Promotion.”

Emenike was influential in Super Eagles 2013 Africa Cup of Nations win, scoring four goals as Nigeria went on to win her third continental title.

He also featured in all of Nigeria’s matches at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. He announced his retirement from international football in 2015.

His move to Westerlo is his 10th professional club having had spells at Fernabache, Olympiacos, West Ham, Spartak Moscow, Al Ain, Las Palmas, Cape Town.
