Arsenal manager Unai Emery has praised the performance of his team after they came back from two goals down to secure a draw in their Premier League clash against North London rivals, Tottenham.
He added further that his side should have won although he believed they did not help their cause with the silly mistakes they made in the first half.
It looked like it was going to be a second successive defeat for Arsenal as Tottenham scored two first-half goals through Christian Eriksen and Harry Kane.
But Alexandre Lacazette fine finish in the last minute of the opening half gave brought Arsenal back into the game and they completed the comeback through Pierre Emerick Aubameyang who finished past Hugo Lloris following a brilliant ball from Mateo Guendozi.
It could have been better for the Gunners as Sokratis had the ball in the back of the net, but the goal was chalked off for offside.
Nevertheless, Emery was satisfied with the way his side reacted to going two goals down but wants them to cut out the silly errors which they made in the first half.
Speaking to SkySports in his post-match conference that was also monitored by Soccernet.ng, Emery said he was proud of his team’s effort.
” I am really proud of our work and they were mostly very amazing today. Really we played with our hearts, sometimes more than our head, and we need to do the balance with them.
“Because to take the best decision in the pitch, we need to be clever in our mind.” He suggested the occasion may have gotten to his players and that’s the reason for their first-half display.
” The wish for every player was very big and the first-half, we conceded some mistakes. But our response was so very good, with our supporters. They push us, they help us and I think our first goal was the key for the second half.
