Asisat Oshoala hungry for more as Barcelona advance in the Champions League

Barcelona Women defeated Juventus 2-1 on Wednesday night to progress into the next round of the UEFA Champions League at the expense of the Italians, a situation that pleases the Nigeria international.

Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala cannot wait for the round of 16 of the European club competition to begin after the Spanish giants confirmed their slot with a narrow win over Juventus Ladies.

Oshoala, who started the game but was not among the goalscorers, took to her Twitter page to express her hunger for more.

Barça goals came from the boots of Alèxia and van der Gragt in the first European match at the Estadi Johan Cruyff.

The Spaniards advance past the Italian outfit, 4-1 on aggregate, having already confirmed their superiority with a 2-0 victory when the two sides met in Turin a fortnight ago.

With the victory, Barça remain undefeated at their new Stadium, having previously handed heavy league defeats to Tacón and champions Atlético Madrid.

The game started at a frenetic pace as Juventus, already down 2-0 on aggregate before the match started, were forced into attacking to keep their European dream alive.

Junge Pedersen had an early chance for the Italians but Barça responded by taking control of the midfield through Hamraoui, Alexia and Aitana Bonmatí.

Barça’s first goal was a team effort that allowed Alexia to finish a cross by Marta Torrejón. Eight minutes later, van der Gragt scored off a corner kick.

Barça dominated the rest of the way, controlling all facets of the game and leaving Juve with little chance. Second-half substitutions Mariona and Jennifer Hermoso could have netted Barça a third goal, but both came up against the woodwork.

Staskova pulled one back for Juve in the 79th, but it was too little, too late.
