Teemu Pukki Equals Former Super Eagles Star’s Record For Norwich

Teemu Pukki was the star of the Premier League matchday 2 as his hat-trick helped Norwich to a 3-1 victory over Newcastle in the Canaries first home game on their return to the English topflight.

After they were taught a lesson in their opening day clash against Liverpool, Daniel Farke’s men bounced back to secure a convincing win over the Magpies.

Pukki who was the top scorer in the championship last season with 29 goals, made it four goals from two games as he scored all three for Norwich.

His first came from a fine volley following a corner, while he scored his second by firing a low shot from the box past Martin Dubvraka in Newcastle goal.

He sealed his hat-trick by dancing past a couple of Newcastle defenders before finishing off with his left foot. Jonjo Shelvey scored a consolation for Steve Bruce men, but it was Pukki who made the headlines.

The Finnish striker becomes the first Norwich player to score a Premier League hat-trick for the Canaries since former Nigerian international, Efan Ekoku, scored three against Everton in 1993.

Speaking after the game in a post-match interview monitored by Soccernet.ng, Pukki expressed his delight at his performance, saying it was something he would not have imagined years ago.

“Of course this is one of the best games I’ve had in English football,” Pukki said. “A hat-trick in the Premier League I wouldn’t even have dreamt about a couple of years ago.”
