Premier League Team Of The Week: Salah, David Silva, Mount Show Class As Luiz, Kane Flop

Week three of the 2019-2020 Premier League saw many goals and shock results as Man United lost 2-1 to Crystal Palace at Old Trafford, Tottenham also crashed at home to Newcastle and Chelsea picked their first three points against Norwich at the weekend.

 Players such as Mohamed Salah was on the ascendency as he grabbed a brace against Arsenal, while Mason Mount continued his impressive performance in the colours of Chelsea as he scored his second goal in the league against Norwich.

Soccernet picks the Premier League team of the week based on their performance last weekend.

Goalkeeper

Ederson (Manchester City) – Made a string of fine saves in victory at Bournemouth, even though he conceded from Harry Wilson’s spectacular free-kick.

Defenders

Frederic Guilbert (Aston Villa) – Helped keep Everton quiet and justified manager Dean Smith’s decision to bring him into the team with a fine display.

Joel Matip (Liverpool) – scored his second goal of August but also excelled at his usual job by defending very well in a victory over Arsenal.

Paul Dummett (Newcastle United) – A rock at the back, making 12 clearances as Newcastle snuffed Tottenham out to get Steve Bruce an unexpected first win.

Patrick van Aanholt (Crystal Palace) – The man who sealed a famous win. The goalscoring left-back popped up in the 90th minute to get Palace a rare victory at Old Trafford.

Midfielders

Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) – A nerveless penalty and a sublime second goal made Salah the scourge of Arsenal as he maintained Liverpool’s 100 per cent start.

James Maddison (Leicester City) – Provided a beautiful pass for Jamie Vardy to open the scoring at Sheffield United. Should have impressed Gareth Southgate.

David Silva (Manchester City) – Marked his 400th City appearance with a typical display of classy passing and a part in all three goals at Bournemouth.

Mason Mount (Chelsea) – A revelation this season, he made it two goals in as many games with a terrific finish as Frank Lampard got his first win at Norwich.

Jordan Ayew (Crystal Palace) – Led the line wonderfully and took his goal well to show why Roy Hodgson recalled him as Palace defeated Manchester United.

Sebastien Haller (West Ham) – The £45 million man opened his West Ham account with a brace at Watford. His second was spectacular and special.
